The State School Readiness Indicators Initiative is designed to build early care and education systems within 17 states to achieve the first national education goal of school readiness. The School Readiness Indicators Initiative is managed by Rhode Island Kids Count and they work with state teams to develop school readiness indicators. These indicators will be used to track progress on achieving the first national education goal and provide the impetus and the evidence base for early childhood policy development.
The State Early Childhood Policy Technical Assistance Network was formed to provide evidence-based technical assistance to decision-makers (Governors and their staff, state legislators and their staff, and executive branch heads) on early childhood issues identified within the state as a focus for policy making. The Technical Assistance Network is managed by the Child and Family Policy Center. The Packard Foundation has provided companion grants to the National Governors Association, the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Education Commission of the States, and the Council of Chief State School Officers To facilitate partnerships at the state level with both initiatives.
